Founder, Chief Designer
Mark is a multi-faceted designer with extensive experience in branding, print and digital media. He has had the privilege of working with clients, both iconic and emerging, as well as with many of the country’s most well respected creative studios and cultural institutions.
Prior to founding Schaer Design, Mark served as Design Director for Salt Branding, with clients including Microsoft, Milliken and Stanford University. As a consultant he has worked with clients including Apple, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Citi Performing Arts Center, Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art, Crystal Bridges Museum, National Museum of American History, National Museum of the American Indian, National Rowing Foundation, the Noguchi Museum, and the Smithsonian Institute.
Previously, Mark was a Creative Director at Fluid, a digital agency focused on e-commerce, a Senior Creative Director at Razorfish, the Design Director for Deutsche Bank in San Francisco, and an Art Director at Young & Rubicam.
Prior to moving to San Francisco, he worked in New York as a designer for Condé Nast Publications. He was also an assistant to the designer Yolanda Cuomo and the photographer Richard Avedon.
Mark studied design with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts, and graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design.
