Mark Schaer

Creative Director

I'm a hands-on creative leader with extensive experience in branding, multi-channel marketing, and digital media. I've had the privilege of working with both iconic and emerging clients, as well as some of the country's most respected creative studios and cultural institutions.

Most recently, I was hired to develop and implement the brand identity, strategy, and voice for HK Lighting, a premium outdoor lighting manufacturer.

I played a pivotal role at Linksys, enhancing their in-house creative capabilities and implementing a brand identity by Bruce Mau Design. As the Creative Director for Global Marketing, I oversaw the website redesign, integrated marketing campaigns, Amazon Store, product launches and videos, packaging, social media, and sales presentations. Additionally, I recruited and managed a diverse and talented team of in-house and contract creatives.

My role as the Creative Director for DMF Lighting followed an initial consultancy where I worked with the founders to refresh and consolidate their identity. I was responsible for all creative output, helped build a talented international team, and guided the brand through a period of rapid growth and success.

During my time at Schaer Design, I established myself as a trusted partner for executives and founders looking to develop impactful brands and accelerate growth.

Prior to that, I held positions as Design Director for Salt Branding, Creative Director at Fluid (a digital agency focused on e-commerce), Creative Director at Razorfish, Design Director for Deutsche Bank, and Art Director at Young & Rubicam.

My career began in New York City, where I worked as a designer for Condé Nast Publications and as a studio assistant to the photographer Richard Avedon. I studied design with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts and graduated with distinction from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Throughout my career, I've cultivated a deep understanding of the ever-evolving landscape of design and technology, blending creativity with strategic insight to deliver memorable brand experiences that connect with audiences worldwide.
